Floor Lamps Recalled By Big Lots

Today, our country is currently in that of an economic recession. At first no one really felt anything, but as time progressed so did the levels of the recession. Many individuals have been laid off from their jobs, prices have inflated on some products, and some people experienced a pay cut from what they were being paid previously. With so many variables and different negative aspects now in play many individuals are counting every cent that they got. So when spending money individuals plan on paying for necessities versus luxuries most of the time. However, when individuals do buy them they expect to get what they pay for, right?

Recently, the nationwide company Big Lots released a recall on their floor lamps that are commonly seen and sold everywhere. The lamps were reported to have caused electrical shocks to individuals, and some electrical wiring issues resulted in burnt property and individuals actually being burnt on their bodies.

To date, 43,700 lamps by Big Lots have been recalled, and more may be added within the future. The Consumer Product Safety Commission, CPSC, did an investigation on the product titled Class Quarters Five Light Floor Lamps and discovered two major defects within the product that was being sold to the Big Lots general consumers. The first issue lied within wiring issues as the wires of the product could easily become exposed over a period of time and then give an individual who touched the wire an electrical shock.

The other issue noted from the investigation was that the lampshades could easily melt due to heat of the bulb and plastic of the actual lampshade. Many reports have stated lamps burning as a result of this causing property damage and individuals to burn as well.

Anyone thought to have purchased or received a light from Big Lots is advised to return them and check for an existing recall on the product in order to limit the possibility of injury, or even worse death from use of the product.
